Event Décor Ideas – Hanging Pomanders

I truly love pomanders, also known as, kissing balls. Most often they are used as bridal flowers for attendants, especially for flower girls. They are also used as a substitution for aisle bouquets in many ceremony designs, as well.

However, there are quite a few unique ways to incorporate them into your wedding design. One of my favorite ways to use them is to decorate the ceiling with them. Just as you may have seen the ceiling at receptions decorated with the paper laterns, you can do the same with pomanders. This will truly take your event design to another level.

I first made this suggestion back in November 2006 in a blog post titled Reception Design :: Don’t Neglect the Ceiling. You can read about it by clicking here.
Another way to use hanging pomanders is in your ceremony design. You can do something similar to the photo to the left designed by Fiore Blossoms and create a backdrop for your ceremony, including incorporating hanging ribbon with individual flowers attached to it.

Of course, I am all for using fabric in wedding designs. Have a look at this ceremony designed by Square Root Designs, where they used hanging pomanders AND fabric! Don’t you love everything about this ceremony backdrop?

And lastly, I love the idea of hanging the pomanders outside in trees. Sure, you may be thinking that the great outdoors is already naturally beautiful and this is very true. But, who’s to say you can’t enhance it. Your guests will be inspired. Right?

As I always say, when it comes to your event design, it’s about finding ways to incorporate your personal style and using that to come up with creative ways to captivate your guests. Get Inspired!
