Happy Hour – Strawberry Watermelon Mojito

It has been a long while since I have featured a signature drink on this wedding blog.

I came across a recipe for a Strawberry Watermelon Mojito on Brides.com that I thought was worth sharing with you and would make for a great signature drink for an outdoor wedding this summer.

The drink was created by the Four Seasons Resort in Palm Beach, FL and the recipe is as follows:

  • 1½ oz. Smirnoff Strawberry Vodka
  • ½ oz. fresh lime juice
  • ½ oz. mint-infused simple syrup
  • 1 cup fresh seedless watermelon, cubed and chilled
  • 1 bunch fresh mint leaves
  • Club soda

Directions:

To make mint syrup, bring 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of water to a boil. Once the sugar has dissolved, remove from heat and add 8 to 10 mint leaves. Let cool for 30 minutes. Strain. Combine vodka, lime juice, simple syrup, ½ cup of watermelon and about 10 mint leaves in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for 10 seconds. Strain into a glass with ice and remaining watermelon. Top with club soda. Garnish with additional mint leaf.

Voilá!

Happy Hour :: Pumpkin Divine Cocktail

“Martinis have never gone out of style and today there are many, many versions. No drink has kept its appeal across so many generations. Despite its many permutations by mixologists, the martini evokes style and sophistication.”

*This is a re-post and content has been modified. Since it is officially fall (Yay!), I felt the need to feature this divine cocktail again. I first blogged about this cocktail last year during a fall inspiration board series, where I invited a few colleagues to create an inspiration board based on a bouquet of hellebores. You can check out those fall inspiration boards by clicking here.

This fall-inspired cocktail is rightfully called the Pumpkin Divine. The recipe for this cocktail recipe is as follows:
  • 1 part Grey Goose La Poire flavored vodka
  • 1 part pumpkin butter
  • 1/2 part triple sec
  • 1/2 part simple syrup
  • Pinch of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and ginger
  • Grated nutmeg and apple chip for garnish

Now, add all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Next, shake it vigorously until the outside of the shaker is frosted and beaded with sweat. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with nutmeg and apple chip.

Does this drink sound yummy or what? Basically, it sounds a piece of sweet potato pie, but in a glass and with a kick – the Grey Goose La Poire.

Happy Hour :: Veev – Açai Spirit Cocktails

In yesterday’s blog post, I introduce you to the eco-friendly spiritVeev, which is the first liquor made from açai berries. Today, I wanted to share with you a couple signature cocktails that are made with Veev. They are as follows:

In case you are wondering where you can purchase Veev – Açai Spirit, you may do so online at Mel and Rose or at BevMo!

Hmmm, I think I just found another use for the sweet basil that’s growing in my patio garden. I also think both of these cocktails would be a winner at your next dinner party. No? For more Veev cocktail recipes, you can visit their website. Or, if you considered yourself a mixologist, you can create your own signature concoction using Veev – Açai Spirit as your main ingredient, and then you can submit the recipe to them online if you want. If you do this, please make sure you are using all-natural and fresh ingredients. Get Inspired!

Eco-Friendly Spirits :: VeeV – Acai Spirit

Veev is the world’s first spirit made from açai berrys. If you are not familiar with açai berries, they are full of antioxidants more so than pomegranates and blueberries. Truly, it is one of the most powerful fruits you can eat. It’s pretty hard to get actual açai berries because they are native to Brazil and do not do hold up well in transport, but you can get it in the form of pure juice or a powder from many health food stores. I drink an organic açai juice blend almost daily, which contains pure açai juice, blueberries, pomegranate, and blackberry nectar. The juice is not cheap, but it’s very refreshing and has many health benefits. Considering that I am a fan of açai, I was excited to learn about Veev.

Veev fuses Açai with 100% all-natural ingredients including prickly pear, and acerola cherry (thought to have more Vitamin C than any fruit on the planet), coupled with hand-crafted, column distilled base wheat spirit. Striking the perfect balance between Açai, citrus and alcohol, Veev fulfills the desire to explore new and exciting ingredients that have never been prior introduced in distilled spirits.

How is Veev an Eco-Friendly Spirit?
Well, they are the industry’s first certified carbon neutral company, which means they offset their business carbon footprint through Climate Clean, which is a company dedicated to eliminating and reducing all greenhouse gases presently affecting our climate change. Secondly, Veev’s distillery is the only one in the United States that is powered by renewable wind energy, thereby using 200% less energy than traditional distilleries.
Lastly, the company donates one dollar per bottle sold to the Sambazon’s Sustainable Açai Project to help ensure the sustainability of açai as well as protect the Brazillian Amazon Rainforest. All this said, if you are having a green wedding and plan to serve a couple signature cocktails, then this is a spirit you may wish to consider. Please join me back tomorrow as I feature a couple green signature cocktails that are made with Veev.
Disclaimer: Although, I believe this spirit is probably one of the best every made, I am in no way implying that Veev or any alcoholic beverage provides any health benefits. Always drink responsibly!!!

Happy Hour :: Pog Punch

OMG! I just stumbled upon this cocktail over on Cocktail Times’ website.
Does this drink not look divine or as if you can truly take a trip to a tropical paradise without really leaving?
Just look at the garnish–an orchid, topped with fresh pineapple! It’s so pretty and I think it would be a perfect signature drink for a tropical destination wedding or beach wedding. Wouldn’t you agree?
I have never tried this cocktail (yet), but it’s an easy one to make and it sounds delectable. The recipe for this liquid concoction was created by Mixologist Cody Robertson of Lingba San Francisco, CA. and it is as follows:
  • 1 1/2 parts of Skyy Infusions Pineapple vodka
  • 1 1/2 parts Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
  • 1 part Guava Puree
Once you have gathered the ingredients, you will combine them in a shaker filled with ice. Shake it a bit and then strain into an already ice filled scorpion bowl. I can’t wait to make this one!
