Happy Hour :: Purple Rain

Posted by Tabitha on Oct 29, 2008 in Signature Drinks | 0 comments

You read the name of our Happy Hour feature correctly!
I have never had this fruity concoction. However, when I stumbled upon it, I thought it would be a great one to feature here. Don’t you just love the deep purple color of this drink?

The recipe for this cocktail is as follows:

  • 1 Shot of De Kuyper Triple Sec
  • 1 Shot of De Kuyper Blackberry
  • .5 Shot of Lime Juice

Now shake the ingredients with plenty of ice in your shaker and strain into a chilled martini glass. For the garnish, you can a slice wheel of lime and a bundle of blackberries. Voila!

Happy Hour :: The White Cosmopolitan

Posted by Tabitha on Sep 17, 2008 in Signature Drinks | 0 comments

“Nothing like its pink cousin the cosmopolitan, for this is far more fruity…”

Oh my this is a treat, I think you will enjoy! Our “happy hour” signature drink this week is the “White Cosmopolitan.” What sets this drink apart from its cousin, the cosmopolitan, is that “punchy lemon-flavored liqueur” is used and there is no vodka.
The ingredients is as follows:
  • 1 1/2 measures of Limoncello
  • 1/2 measure of Cointreau
  • 1 measure of white cranberry and grape juice (yummy)
  • ice and a dash of orange bitters

Finally, you can mix the Limoncello, Cointreau, the cranberry and grape juice over the ice and shake until frosted. Then strained the mixture into a chilled glass, add the dash of bitters, and garnish with red cranberries.

"Spicy Banana Chill" Coming Right Up…

Posted by Tabitha on Sep 2, 2008 in Signature Drinks | 0 comments

…for Andria Lewis served up by the Sergeant himself. A few hours ago, I tweeted on Twitter that I was sipping on a “spicy banana chill” smoothie and Andria asked me for the recipe. So, I decided we would whip up one for her. Following is a mini photo journal of the process.

To start with you want to gather all the ingredients (minus the wine bottles and the organic yogurt on counter):
  • 1 1/2 cups of milk (We used 2% reduce organic milk. He preferred soy milk, but I’m not too hip to soy milk.)
  • 1/2 teaspoons of allspice
  • 5 1/2 ounces of banana ice cream (we used banana pudding ice cream by Harris Teeter)
  • 2 bananas sliced and frozen (We put the bananas in the freezer for about 15 minutes, so they were not completely frozen.)

Now that you have gathered the ingredients, you want to pour the milk into the blender, add the allspice and half of the banana ice cream and process it gently until those ingredients are combined.

Now you can add the remaining of the ice cream and process until well blended. Honestly, I think we used a full cup of ice cream as opposed to just the five and half ounces.

When the mixture is combined, it’s time to add the bananas and that’s when the magic happens. Once you have added the bananas you can process it until it is smooth.

Finally, when it’s all blended together, you can pour this refreshing drink into a glass of your choice.

Now the recipe does NOT call for whip cream, that was my idea. I thought it would be a great way to top the drink off and so, I did just that.

And now, my dear I will drink another one of these smoothies on your behalf. Yummy is all I have to say!
