Chandeliers + Wedding Tablescapes

Linear Strand Crystal Chandelier

Inspired by chandeliers? Me too.

I am especially inspired this beautiful Linear Strand Crystal Chandelier (above) from the Z Gallerie. FYI, inside their location at the Triangle Town Center, they have crazy beautiful tablescapes on display. If you’re in the Raleigh area, be sure to check them out. You will not walk out of there uninspired.

Anyhow, I really have a thing for chandeliers incorporated into table designs, and to do it in the open outdoors is creating the unexpected. The “linear strand crystal chandelier” featured above would work very well to create the appearance of chandeliers magically floating above your wedding tables (say for an evening wedding). A high and low effect also works well.

To help you visualize, I have included a couple few photos of tablescapes with chandeliers.

Rustic Barn Wedding Tablescape Inspiration

Posted by Tabitha on Oct 1, 2010 in event design | 0 comments

I was just browsing on Etsy looking for some fall wedding inspiration, but instead stumbled upon this stunningly beautiful tablescape, designed by Stage Right, Etc. I am so inspired by this “shabby chic” tablescape from the rustic barn setting, to the sheer ceiling canopy, to the hanging lanterns, to the moss table runner, which is available at Bragging Bags’ Etsy store, well everything in this mockup design, including the hay on the floor.

If you are planning a barn wedding and are looking for a bit of inspiration on how to add a touch of elegance to your rustic wedding venue, please be sure to check out more details of this “shabby chic” wedding mockup, photographed by Jessica Zais Photography. Get Inspired!

Pantone Fashion Color Report – Spring 2011

Posted by Tabitha on Sep 10, 2010 in event design | 0 comments

In time for yesterday’s commencement of the New York Fashion Week, Pantone, “the global authority on color” has released its fashion color report for Spring 2011. Inspired by exotic destinations, the top ten colors for spring 2011 are featured below:

My top three picks are as follows:

Blue Curacao

My signature color. Of course, it reminds me of tropical waters, and hence makes me want to escape to the Caribbean or South Pacific indefinitely. What’s that…you want to plan your destination wedding in Curacao? Me too, so reach out to me.

Silver Peony

Pretty.

Coral Rose

I like spicy and this color is fierce. It too is one of my signature colors.

Event Décor Ideas – Mason Jars Used for Lighting

Posted by Tabitha on Jul 26, 2009 in event design, outdoor weddings | 0 comments

I love mason jars and they remind me so much of my grandmother. She used them to make jams and preserves, to pickle, can or store various foods. Heck I even remember drinking lemonade and sweet ice tea out of mason jars when we were children.
So, naturally I am inspired that many brides are wanting to incorporate them into their wedding design. One of the most awe-inspiring ways I have send them used is as lighting–candle holders and lanterns.
Here are a few inspiring ideas I found on the Internet and wanted to share with you of how you can use mason jars as lighting for your event.
In the photo to the left, the designer used a manzanita branch as the base and then adorned it with rose pomanders and hanging mason jar candles.
What I love about this is that the designer combined both the flowers and the mason jar candles. Truth be told the design would have looked very nice with either the mason jar candles or the rose pomanders alone, but the designer took it a step further by using both. Don’t you just love it?

This is a simple, elegant and inexpensive way to decorate your wedding ceremony using mason jars. I really like the idea of using mason jars as aisle decoration whether it’s to hold flowers or candles, though I really like the candles a lot because of the warm and romantic ambiance it creates. On that note, candles for an outdoor wedding ceremony work best if your ceremony will take place in the late evening.

This is another great way to use mason jars to add lighting to an outdoor wedding. Now, just imagine if you setup a lounge area under a tree like this that has been decorated with mason jar laterns and kissing balls. Here’s a visual for you.

What I like about this last photo is that it peaks one’s interest or curiosity. It’s like what’s that over there and as you can see the mason jars serve the same function as your typical candle holders, providing the perfect lighting to attract guests to this focal point. In case you are wondering, those are glass ornament favors, which have been displayed on grapevine trellises. Lovely idea!!

Event Décor Ideas – Wedding Cake Displays

Posted by Tabitha on Jul 2, 2009 in event design | 3 comments

Considering that your wedding cake will be on display for the bulk of your wedding reception, it should be considered as part of your event design plan. In other words, your wedding cake should be thought of as one of the focal points of your reception.

There is nothing more beautiful and captivating than going over the top for your wedding cake display, especially if you want to add some oomph to your reception design. One of my favorite ways to display a wedding cake is to set it up under a wedding canopy that is draped with fabric. Have a look at the example featured below!

The cake setup above was created with a pipe and drape system. In addition, the cake table was lined and draped with a couple layers of fabric and decorated with a load of flowers. For more pizzazz, this designer added hanging strings of flowers. This is definitely a “WOW” factor.

What I love most about this cake display is that it is set up against a very beautifully design wall, which serves as a captivating backdrop for this cake display. The wall itself along with the lighting is bound to draw guests to the details of this display.

Finally, this wedding cake display is a great example of how a fabric backdrop and few uplights can go a long way. This design is rather simple and elegant, but full of drama as it makes a very powerful statement. Wouldn’t you agree?

There are numerous ways you can display your wedding cake, so please feel free to be creative with your cake display, after all it is a focal point and your guests can ooh and ah over your design.

Seating Logistics – Benefits of Creating a Floor Plan

Posted by Tabitha on May 20, 2009 in event design, wedding planning | 0 comments

As part of our wedding planning services including wedding day management, we create a custom seating and floor plan design for each of our clients. The two primary reasons why we include this in our planning and coordination services is that it keeps us sane, especially when getting 300 plus guests seated quickly as we transition from cocktail hour to the wedding reception.

Secondly, by creating a custom floor plan design ahead of time, it provides our clients with a visual of their tables as they will be on their wedding day and this helps them with assigning their guests to tables. Please have a look at the floor plan design below.

This floor plan was made to accommodate a 180 guests including the bridal party. Although, it is difficult to read here, each of the guest tables contain a number and I have placed boxes to note where the entrances and windows are in the room as well as assigned a location for the gift table and bar area.

As you can see from looking at this floor plan, you know where everything is and will be on the wedding day from the main entrances to where the band will be set up. Once you have your event’s floor plan, you can start on the seating plan. The way we do this is by giving our clients a seating plan worksheet (see sample) along with their floor plan design. Once they have grouped their guests together, it’s just a matter of them assigning them to a table that corresponds to the numbers on the floor plan.

Event Décor Ideas – Making Art with Ribbon

Posted by Tabitha on May 4, 2009 in event design | 1 comment

I stumbled upon this photo on Project Wedding’s website. I wish I knew who came up with this idea, so that I could give him or her do credit, but no source was listed. Based on the images in the photo, I suspect this is the work of a photographer displaying his or her work, but I’m not certain.
At any rate, I heart this design concept. What a beautiful and elegant way to captivate and inspire your guests!! Here you have ribbon hanging with just a few strands of crystal links hanging between the ribbon. That concept alone is simply beautiful. However, when you add the photos (and this is what captivated me), the backdrop comes to life. Don’t you think?
Imagine your guests entering into your wedding and seeing a display of your engagement photos on a backdrop like this. You will have created an awe-inspiring experience. I think this would be a great display for your cocktail hour giving, that is if it’s not in the same room as your reception. In this way, you can build up the excitement in your guests for your wedding celebration while they sip on cocktails. Get Inspired!
